Welcome to
Studio Moksie

Studio Moksie is a playful ceramics studio in the heart of Ghent, where you can slow down, get your hands dirty and create something completely your own.
Whether you’re touching clay for the very first time or you’re already a little obsessed with it, there’s a place for you here. Our workshops are all about discovering what you can make with your own two hands.
No experience, no perfection and no pressure needed.
We believe everyone has a creative spark. Sometimes, all it needs is a little bit of clay, some time to play and the freedom to just see where it takes you.
So leave the to-do list at the door, forget about the rush for a while and give yourself permission to make, experiment, laugh, get messy and simply enjoy the moment.
The story behind
Studio Moksie
Studio Moksie started with something I had almost forgotten how to find: joy.
The beginning of 2025 wasn’t the easiest time for me. I felt low on energy, a little lost, and disconnected from the things that used to make me excited. It felt like the world had lost a little bit of its colour, and somewhere along the way, I had lost my creative spark too. So I decided to slow down and take some time for myself. I started thinking about the things that made me happy as a child. The things I could get completely lost in. And one thing kept coming back: creating.
As a kid, I was always making something. Little inventions, paintings and drawings, tiny sculptures, jewellery… it didn’t really matter what it was. I just loved having an idea in my head and turning it into something I could hold in my hands. So, on one of those darker days, I bought a block of clay. I didn’t know what I was going to make. And that was exactly the point. I simply started. And somewhere between the messy hands, wonky shapes and completely random ideas, I found something I had been missing. I found joy again. Working with clay gave me the freedom to let my ideas flow without needing to know where they were going. There was no perfect outcome, no right or wrong and no pressure to make something “good”. I could simply play. And that felt incredibly freeing.
We live in a world that can feel very busy. A world where everything seems to need to be faster, better and more perfect. But clay doesn’t really care about any of that. Not every mug I made looked the same. Not every plate was perfectly round. Some pieces were wonky, some had little imperfections and some turned out completely different from what I had imagined. And I loved it. There was something beautiful about creating things that didn’t need to be perfect to be special. In a world where we’re often encouraged to fit in, my little pieces didn’t. They were colourful, organic, imperfect and completely their own. And slowly, my own world started to feel a little more like that too. More colourful. More playful. More me. I took a few classes and workshops, watched far too many pottery videos, experimented, made mistakes, tried again and slowly fell completely in love with clay.
My boyfriend was a big part of that journey too. He kept pushing me to believe in myself, to keep creating and to take my ideas seriously. We’ve actually called each other “Moksie” since the very beginning. And somehow, the name couldn’t have been more fitting. The word moksie (or moksi) comes from Sranantongo, the language of Suriname, and means mixed or blended. To me, that feels like exactly what Studio Moksie is. A mix of ideas, colours, people, moods, shapes and imperfections. A place where everything can come together and nothing has to fit a certain mould.
Moksie is about believing in yourself. About staying creative when life feels a little messy. About giving yourself permission to play. About adding a little more colour to your everyday. That is the feeling I want Studio Moksie to give you. A place that feels a little bit like coming home to yourself. A colourful, playful, dopamine-filled space where you can leave the pressure of everyday life at the door and simply be. Here, you can get your hands dirty. You can experiment. You can make something wonky. You can change your mind. You can make a mess. You can start again. Everything is allowed. Nothing has to be perfect.
Because sometimes, all you need is a little bit of clay, a splash of colour and the freedom to play.
Welcome to Studio Moksie.
Come as you are. ♡
